Head Gasket Install BooBoo>???

Post by crazymilk »

Hi all - first Head Gasket Job so take it easy on me

I have just replaced the head gaskets on my 2000 Subaru Outback EJ25 SOHC.

I used new OEM gaskets and have just finished putting/torquing up the heads and fitting new cambelt/Water pump ect while I was at it.

However standing back and looking at it I think I may have put the gaskets on the wrong way round!!!!
First question is - is it possible to put them on the wrong way?

The reason I ask is that one one side the new head gasket tab (that sticks up more) is at the back of the block and the tab on the other side is at the front of the block. This is what has made me worried about wrongly installing them?

I have attached some pictures to help explain what I mean.

Thanks for your help.
