Hi - I realise this is probably impossible to diagnose over the internet but I thought I would ask anyway
There's a knocking noise from the front of my van when driving - it's not constant but comes and goes all the time. Might correspond with small suspension movements but not big bumps, although hard to be sure. I've checked the wheelnuts and also a superficial visual check of the suspension and can't see anything obvious. Anything obvious sprint to mind that I could check?
When you have eliminated all the obvious suspects that you can see and get at have a look at the spacer at the top of the shocker - this is where my clunking came from (after I had replaced all the bushes in an effort to track it down) Spacer sleeve A in pic below.
Seconded on droplink although that will eventually cause the front to become very soft on cornering with it dipping down if you navigate too hard. Akin to driving a worn out armchair. From experience, its not pleasant when the droplinks aren't working properly. A cursory look underneath will confirm if thats the case as there will be bits missing on one side or both.

Should be a rubber and washer, top and bottom, both sides. Grab hold of each and move them around, checking for damage or missing components. Check antirollbar bushes at the top too. If not, focus on wishbones or balljoints.

Eventually tracked this down, or more accurately Chris at Birks in Chinnor did (top man). Was a loose lower shock mounting bolt on the offside, even though he and I both agreed the noise definitely sounded like it was the near side. Very happy!
