Looks good, but best check in the wiki, there is a section all about the most suitable battery to buy, especially re the height, which is a limiting factor on choice.
Those Volt meters. You could fit one. Most folk only use them for checking their leisure batteries, but with a simple changeover switch you can make it readout for either. However, if you do get one, check it's readout against a known good multimeter. I have three here and two of them can be up to .5 a Volt out, whitch is quite a lot if you consider your regulator might be outputting 14.2 Volts, your new meter might show that as 14.7
