Playing with my Subaru (mapping)

Post by Domino »

I know this isn't really T25 related but I'm so happy with my results from mapping my 2009 Subaru yeasterday I just had to share the results with everyone or anyone who will listen lol

After a lot of tuning and parts changing for better items iv finally got the car to drive the way I want it to and iv now increased the power to 506bhp , I was expecting around 450 so I'm over the moon with the results and to crack the 500 mark is just awesome as the car feels very very fast now lol

And to cap things off one of my Subaru club members has given me a great deal on his 2003 modified WRX that's currently 300bhp ,, and this is looking like a contender for the running gear my T25 needs , only problem is it's a very nice car and being a Subaru fan I'm finding it hard to justify stripping a nice one lol

There is a chap I use that does it all for me ,it's just a new way and name for tuning a car to suit it's mods as any corrections are now done via the ecu, basically plugs into my ecu with his laptop and adjusts all my settings ie boost , ignition timing , cam timing plus loads of other really complicated settings lol ,, all this is done with det cans on listening for destination in the cylinders and avoiding it lol ,, this can be done on a rolling road but I prefer doing it on the road as its done in real time then

This can be done to the standard ecu on subarus from 98 onwards from memory or you have to buy a aftermarket ecu

Some of the extra iv now added to my factory ecu are very good aswell ,, I now have two map setting so one is set for my boost to not go over 1bar and then another setting for the full amount ,, another is for flat foot shifting , ie the ecu will drop my revs for me in between gears so I don't have to lift my foot ,, auto blip on down shift ,, so the car will match my revs with road speed on down shifts so no extra strain is put on my engine when driving like a madman lol (so. No more of the old School heel toe driving) also has launch control that will hold my revs and bring up my boost ready for a proper race launch , I can ajust my launch setting via my cruise control aswell if I want it more agressive ,, so very clever stuff can be added to my ecu (not all of them can have these features though)

Hope this helps answer things for you :D
