2nd oil pressure switch location

Post by 123-jn »

Has anyone ever added a tapping for a second oil pressure switch to an early 1.9 case (which only has the tapping between the pushrods). The other switch goes on the end under the water pump. Is it just a matter of measuring marking and drilling and tapping or is that not advised? Is the oil way in the same place?

My 1.6 diesel has two pressure switches, one on the block and the second on the housing for the oil filter/cooler. I think the oil cooler is not original for my NA Diesel and has been added, it is probably from the JX engine

Good question I think it's the same internally and externally, I have a knackered early case so I could give it a go for general knoledge but I would only tap m10x1 and not bother with the adapter.

Can't remember sitting here if filter is before or after switch , I think before switch so only doable on a strip down or swarf could get into your bearings, suppose you could crank engine to give you pressure to drive swaft out but it would be messy.
