New Coolant overflow tank

Post by HT »

Hi,

Everyone seems to use different terminology for this so what I am talking about is the secondary tank that is usually behind the numberplate flap NOT the main coolant header tank.

I need to fit one to my 1z TDI conversion as I don't have the original so need to buy a new one and fit somehwere in the engine bay.

1) do you know of a suitable one that I can get hold of easily and cheaply?
2) Do you know the volume it should hold for a TDI?

The best I can find at the moment is from a micra as it has a single pipe connector at the bottom. It is 0.7 litres but I don't know how big it needs to be, I don't think very.

any help would be great.

Thanks
Harry

Just to throw a spanner in the works. On my 2 engine convershions i have used the goldfish bowl from a golf although a t4 one has a larger volume. I have used these on a b230 and a 1.8 20v. And have never had an issue. With my ej22 which uses the tradishional header tank and expanashion tank i have gone through 2 darlec caps. And this was also an issue with my old wbx.
