Illuminated headlamp switch

Post by what2do »

I read yesterday on the ever truthful facebook that it's possible to obtain a 'Deluxe' dash switch for the headlamps that is illuminated. Anybody know if this is true or not, perhaps you more fortunate bus owners that have all the bells and whistles?
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

That's because you have in your possession a 'van' like me which is why I said 'bus' in my query. If I can obtain one, I'll be able to flaunt my van's superiority to yours :rofl :rofl :rofl

I just look out of the big glass thing at the front to see if my headlights are on :run

note to self = I believe the heater controls are supposed to be illuminated - 10+ years of ownership = it's about time I attended to this deluxe feature ;)
Got a new van, but it's a 165bhp T4 [shock horror] Accurate LPG Station map here

My switch has a bulb in the back - so it is true. It doesn't work mind. I wish the heater controls were illuminated...

I think the light is there so you can find your headlight switch in the dark rather than to tell if the headlights are on!!!

By the way - are the heater controls meant to do anything or are they just for show?

Exactly, which is why I'd like to have one. Often ponder about how much I'd appreciated having a green led in the cluster to display when headlights were on. It's on the list of things to do...

I built a light in it this summer.
Later switches (with an M or T in the partnr.) has white plastic insert inside the front rocker. That white plastic is transparent so you just need to solder in an LED with resistor.

I wired the LED to the key in circuit (later ign switch has it) so it lights when the key is inserted. But you can wire it to the dash lights outlet at the switch connector.

Checking the bulb and connections are on the end of a long list...! Beep when lights are left on will beat it, keep leaving them on at the moment

Thanks for the input, it appears that you have verified what I learned on facebook, how refreshing!
