1.9 Pulley Oil Seal Replacement - Engine in?

Post by T25Convert »

Afternoon,

15,000 miles after rebuilding, my engine has started leaking in the oil pump/pulley region, I suspect as my engine breather was not operating and I managed to overfill the oil slightly (fool).

Tried a quick search regarding engine in/out for this, but can't seem to find an answer.

Exhaust is coming off at the same time for a new back box, so what do people think, is there enough room to get the new seal in nice and square with the engine in?

Cheers,

Alex

Yes if you support engine, undo support bar, then lower engine so you have full access.

Thanks, will be easier than having the engine back out.

I suspect I'll need the access to get the exhaust box off anyway!

Cheers,

Pulley wheel nut will come loose if you put a big adjustable on it and give it a sharp whack with a hammer. The shock will shift it.
