CV joints from Heritage - any good ?

Post by Alzey »

I have got my rear axles on the bench at the moment and the four CV joints are in various conditions, strangely the one where the CV bolt had been shagged (previous owner/garage had broken off the 12 spline socket and left it for the next mug/owner to get out, what a saga) was probably in the best condition ! Anyway decided to change all four anyone used these CV's from heritage, they are shown FOR USE on T2 AND T25, PART NUMBER 211501331. Priced £15.64 each. I don't need the kits as I have the grease, bolts, washers and three new boots already. Just be interested to see if anyone has any experience of them.

Ta very much

PS if your interested the IRWIN 13 mm nut remover did the job eventually, every tool box should have a set of these babies !

IF, they look like they do in the picture then i would say the are not GKN/LOBRO. You'll be a lucky man if they last.

Yep, I saw that thread and read it, I couldn't find any mention of them ! I did look on GSF but failed to find the part, lots of boots etc but no actual CV. I also find with ordering parts from GSF that it is hit and miss as to what manufacturer is supplied. I'll look again. I do like the quality of the parts from Brickwerks but I get naffed off with the postage charges (not their fault obviously) plus Heritage is a short sherlp up the A259.

Thanks anyway

Al

Well I ordered them on the Eurocarparts website and used the Halloween10 discount. Delivery via UPS £1.95 ! The ECP website states that the make is GKN/Lobro, the GSF and Heritage web pages don't state what manufacturer produces the CV joint. That is what concerns me. If it was decent wouldn't they say ? This is a very mucky, dirty job that I really don't want to be doing again in 6 months hence my concern for getting quality parts.

Thanks for all your help,

Regards
Al

Kev,

The CV joint on its own was £64 or something stupid, the kit was £33.00, so ended up buying four kits then discount delivery etc and it comes to £118
In the end it was about the quality of the joint and i'm assured that ther GKN ones are good. I've ended up with a couple of spare boots which can go back to the other supplier next time I'm in there.

Regards
Al
