GoWesty Coolant Pipe Repair

Post by Wychall »

Has anyone used one of the GoWesty coolant pipe repair kits? If so, would you recommend it?

I understand the principle of it, but cannot convince myself that the extra insert is necessary. As it is just sitting in the rubber hose, wouldn't a jubilee clip constricting the hose below the diameter of the plastic pipe brass collar just achieve the same thing?

What is your view, guys?

I have at least one pipe end/barb that has parted company on each of the buses.
Does it leak or has the hose started creeping?
Nope.
Am I paranoid about it?
Nope.
IME its a solution looking for a problem. VW were paranoid about water cooling failures, they over engineered a lot of things that, in hindsight, were unnecessary.
