1982 Aircooled 2 litre gearbox trouble

Hi Club 80-90. Only just heard about this forum. I have a 1982 2 litre Aircooled bus- have had it for about 16 years- but gearbox needs attention or replacing. Was working in reverse, first, second was starting to "sing" abit , third was crunchy and noisy - stopped using it and fourth was ok if you could jump to it from 2nd.Have now got box out as thought I had a replacement but not a good match so back to looking for advice or leads. the dk box eh? Sadly our gearbox guru doesn't do Aircooled boxes...but he could probably advise what action would need to be taken to put a watercooled box on, and what may be a suitable replacement....

google aidan talbot gearboxes.

You can also place a wanted ad, but include a phone number as I am not sure how many posts etc you have to have to receive pm nowadays

There may be aircool peeps along soonish who can help. Sadly the DK box is getting a bit hard to come by
