Brake bias valve internals???
Anyone got a pics of the internals or a cutaway or similar..
Got a van in at the moment and I think someone has been in the valve and buggered about with it.. But, I cant find any pics of a dismantled one..

Re: Brake bias valve internals???
Evidence of stilsons? I suspect that they were always a "non user serviceable" item.
Suspect its just a light coil spring and a metering/needle valve but may be more elaborate.

Re: Brake bias valve internals???
Actually..
if the seals were available I would have no quarms over servicing.. (if it will come apart)
Its less elaborate inside... prob why they rarely give any trouble...
Stillsons..
no such crude and nasty tools needed..
I suspect this one has been "modified" by someone.. as there is a part inside that doesn't make any sense and prevents it from doing its job and no spring that you and others have referenced..
I have another I can remove from another van (wish I had dropped the one off the scrapper now..) I would just like some independent info to back up my thought..

Nope.. and that's the early style (bay window) not the later style..
I have the Bentley and it says "not serviceable" LOL..
I will remove the one of the other van tomorrow... see what that tells me...

Re: Brake bias valve internals???
IIRC Herr Baxter said that they can end up full of rust and gunge. Got to be worth opeing one up from a scrapper to find out what goes on.
I do know for a fact that the German tuners change the angle on lowered buses with big brakes to prevent rear lock-up.

Re: Brake bias valve internals???
Well, this one I am replacing on a customers van was well gunged up.. but the internals don't make sense as it stands.. cant see how it can work with this additional item fitted.. and hence why I think its been opened and messed with..
will whip the other off and see.. then I will clarify my findings.. (with pics)

Don't know if this is the same one? ( I have just replaced 2 on my daughter's Punto but not looked at a van one)

That must be the bay/early vanagon one. Try this.

Re: Brake bias valve internals???
Yep.. that's not right..
Got some pics.. need to upload somewhere..
Well.. removed the grotty one off the rusty van.. internally.. minty clean.. its older and rustier and the van has done lots more miles..
the internals are the same as the 72k miles nice van.. but the low mile van has missed a lot of fluid changes and maybe some dimwit has put some other fluid in it in the past..
new master cyl, new bias valave and now its working properly....
