Wierd hazard lights issue

Post by skater »

Hi all. New to here and to watercooled (but not to Aircooled). Just got a 1990 1.9 petrol transporter. Among a few other little glitches, a wierd thing is happening with the hazard lights. Indicators work ok but I gather that's a separate fuse/relay so not confused by that. But switched the hazards on earlier...there was a buzz which I presume was from the relay, but then disappeared. First, the left side worked ok but not the right, and then they swapped! Right side worked ok but the left was off. Having done a bit of a search, am thinking that it is probably the relay. But on looking around, and in the haynes manual, it seems that there isn't actually a separate relay for the hazards... or am I missing something?

Had this too, angry buzzing etc. Hazard switch needed some exercise and the plug disturbing. Pull all the light sockets off and check for damp corrosion.
