Broke spring clip on temperature sender

Post by Sir Brixalot »

Scrabbbling under the van chasing wires back I noticed a small leak from the temperature sender. I gave the spring clip a push and it broke immediately, I can't see one at ECP or GSF. I need to use the van today will I get away with it?

If you bought a sender you normally get a new clip with it. A new sender may only be a fiver from gsf? I wouldn't drive it with no clip as once system pressurises the sender will come out

It's the horseshoe clip I broke. I that all that stops the sensor coming out?

If it's just not be of the push in senders with clip, the clip is pretty generic across the vw range. So you just buy any old sender and use the clip.
Pretty sure Brickwerks sell the clip on its own for future reference

Going to order the whole sensor as I guess the leak is coming ftom the o ring. Brickwerks have a choice of two. I'm away from my van, so I cant check which one I've got. Does it make any difference. Although my van is late I believe the last engine fitted was early.

If the sender is working then I wouldn't bother buying a new one.The "o" ring and clip are sold separately and not included with the sender from brickwerks.
