Here caomes the bride.....strange noise from passenger side

Post by crazyhorse »

It seems that evrything is going wrong at the mo.....

On the passenger side of my transporter, there is strange noise that can only be described as a coke can being dragged under the van. When the van moves quicker.... the noise is quicker... when slowing down it goes slower, which means to say it's something related to movement.
Had a look under the van passenger side to have a look, nothing...Everything looks in place, and there is no coke can hanging down!!

Anyone here had anything like this?? Should I worry

Sounds like a wheel bearing, but it could also be Brakes binding, or a driveshaft cv joint coming loose... It's movement related, so it's to do with the whels going round. Jack it up and give the wheels the usual tug and shove treatment. Also, bear in mind it might not actually be the passenger side...

Brake disc guard loose or rusted through , grab it and shake it .
Drive shaft bolts loose , check them before they fall out and you loose drive.

Check as all above, although I once had a berlingo that I presumed the front brake warning squeels had started to rub, went to pick up some new pads and on the way home navigating a roundabout I heard a ping and caught out of the corner of my eye something flying through the air. Turned out a stone had jammed between the disc and back plate.
