Help changed 4 speed bushes now will not move

Help changed 4 speed bushes now will not move

I have changed the gear shift lever and 2 bushes. The van now selects gears beautify but when i tried to move off i smelt the clutch burn but no moving.

I tried to attach an image but got a Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached. message.

If the gearchange mech has got out of adjustment it could be engaging third gear when you think you have first.

What happens when you try reverse? Do you get first gear then?

There is a section in the Haynes manual on adjusting the mech properly.
1.9D (AEF) pop-top. Aaaaahhhhh........that's better.

Its amazing what you can tackle on your own.

That was exactly what happened.

All working well although the gear stick is annoyingly more over to the right now.

If you follow the instructions exactly the gearstick should end up in the right place. If it's different then it could have been in the wrong place before, I suppose.

At least you can drive now. :)
