Square headlight dimensions

Post by tforturton »

Does anyone know the dimensions of the rectangular headlights? Not the inner ones - the larger, outer lights.

Do you reckon these could be made to fit?

You would have to make provision for setting them up correctly . How much are they ?

They'd just about fit width-ways, but vertically they would need a bit of trimming to the plastic surround. Anyone know if someone has already tried this?

They cost about £150 each, but they have a vastly superior light beam/throw, use a lot less current, and are nigh-on indestructible. Listed as being 7in x 5in, they should fit, but it might mean having to cut away part of the light surround. Stefan (On here as U Corsu) fitted the round ones to his Syncro, and the illumination is superb. Thing is, at the moment, you could probably get a full square light grill with lights for around £350, so it's not really worth the effort, except as an exercise. Maybe if the price was to drop a bit....

Do the round ones just fit or is there more to it?

Ah....Stefan did give me the low-down on these lights at the last Syncropendence, but I can't recall much about it! I'm sure he said that they fitted perfectly as far as size was concerned, but mounting them properly was a bit of a fiddle. He posts under the name 'U Corsu', so you could always PM him. He'll get an email to say there's a message. The round ones are about £100, but they're fairly widely available, so look around.

Ah I didn't know there was any difference. As I find myself unexpectedly looking for a new grille, is there any difference between LHD and RHD?
