More gearbox problems

driveshaft is wrong length if wearing a hole in the cap usually or something has gone wrong with cv installation
early vans have longer shaft which will damage late vans flange caps

Guess it may be the cv installation then as it was fine for 35 k ish miles before I fitted them but what can go wrong? circlips are in place bolts tight , how much difference in length are the shafts early/late models by the way?

548mm early 541mm late model drive shaft according to VW catolog

thanks .. only 7mm difference , ive had van for 10 years never had this problem before but may remove shaft and measure just to check
