T25 - blue smoke, but only once engine has warmed up

Post by gmajor »

Hi,
T25, 2litre, 1982 Aircooled. Starts well, then after 5-10 mins produces copious amounts of pale blue smoke. Engine still sounds OK and runs well on idle (I'm not planning to try and drive any distance just at the minute..). Breather tubes all clear, filter OK and changed a year ago, plugs in good nick the RH ones were perhaps a bit dry oily but still firing on all cylinders (checked by pulling off HT leads). Exhaust has always been clear so this is a change suggesting something has happened rather than gradual wear & deterioration. Main symptom is that the exhaust always runs clear at first before smoke starts - presumably as engine warms up. Any ideas on what to check next or how to eliminate/confirm possible causes like valve stem seals, piston rings etc.

Thanks for your thoughts, Graham

Hello,

Do you have access to a compression tester?

Have the cylinder heads been 'touched' ?

Photos or video will help.

Cordialement,
