JX 1.6TD Exhaust brackets - drawing? or a supplier?

Big lumps of metals and spanners. Including servicing and fluids.

JX 1.6TD Exhaust brackets - drawing? or a supplier?

Post by Binsy »

My T25 JX 1.6TD had improvised angle brackets holding the silencer on when I bought it 10 years ago. They broke eventually and I copied them using more angle. 5 years on and it is time to replace them again but I am getting a bit far from the original dimensions now. My question: does anyone know where I can get hold of new brackets? Or as an alternative, can somebody who has an original (I think they are a mirror image pair as I recall...not sure), take a few dimensions and post a back of fag packet sketch for anyone to make replacements from please? I have seen a schematic and it looks as though the angle has got a support rib welded in the middle. They are a pretty simple part to knock up but I am concerned that if I get the dimensions wrong that I will be straining other connections in the exhaust system including the rubber mounts.
Don't put it in the bin, I want to make something with it.

Thanks for the link. The improvised brackets don't look anything like the ones on this link (they are just pieces of angle)......though perhaps they should and the silencer should be rotated. Could be that the silencer is not quite the right part either. May just bodge it again until the silencer carcs it and then fit the whole lot correctly. It's a late 90s model and I know they made a few changes just before switching to the T4
