Post by Laws1974 »

Been meaning to do this for awhile removed old strip light an starter from housing and fitted LED strip. Now a lot brighter and uses a lot less power.

I can never understand why anyone uses florescent tubes in campers these days when LEDs are so much more efficient. The LED (since the advent of blue ones and ultimately full RGB lights) has transformed lighting and beats the pants off the so-called energy bulbs at home too. Biggest breakthrough since the tungsten bulb. That said, you can sometimes be paying way too much and there are many poor quality ones. If its something I want a very long life from I source the parts myself and slightly under-drive the LEDs for reliability. Quite a few far east units have badly made driver circuits that cause premature failure of LEDs and last at most a year or so. Certainly with my dashboard I fitted the best components I could find. Bet you're pleased :D
