Re: Front near side hub leaking
A pair of stilsons will help remove even the most stubborn of caps, could always wrap a cloth around it to prevent the teeth from marking the metal if you're concerned.
Why would the glass be anything other than half full?

Looks to me as if the speedo cable end doesn't have its e-clip fitted either. Without it, the cable tends to drift in and out slightly which may be pushing some of the old and tired grease out. Wear in the hole in the cap will also let grease past easily as will a cap that isn't seating right all the way around - particularly when the grease is old and thin or heated to extinction by a worn bearing.
Claw hammer will normally fetch the cap off.

Maybe some nutter thought the end of the cable was a grease nipple. Heck thats way too much grease.
I suppose as soon as the hub gets moderately warm, the grease has nowhere else to go. Make sure you fit an 8mm e-clip on the speedo cable end once the cap is put back.

Got one on order from jk, thanks cov kid. I still think the bearing is suspect though. Just what is the recommended amount of grease on top of the bearing being packed?

Re: Front near side hub leaking
Not much. The bearing can't drag in grease. Seen folk pack the cap before. It doesn't do anything except make a mess.

Re: Front near side hub leaking
Is there a recommended service interval for greasing hub bearings?

Circlip arrived today also from jk. Cleaned some of the grease from hub cap. Going to keep an eye on it. Will change bearings if it's hot after next run out. Viva skeg Vegas this weekend. It's only 17 miles from my gaff!

Normally the discs wear before the bearing or grease expires and thats the time the owner ends up focused on them.
