Anyone fitted a DAB aerial?
Have a brand new radio as a result of a theft, its DAB like the old one, the DAB reception never worked great before. The supplied DAB aerial is a window stick-on but the mag strip for attachment to the painted metal body doesn't reach around the windscreen rubber. I tried a beer can strip extension but that didn't give good reception. I did drink the beer first. I tried Cider too.
The FM works fine on my door mounted aerial next to the A pillar. I like FM but it would be nice to get the DAB working too. I haven't tried a new splitter, are they any good, it seems unlikely to me. All the well rated DAB aerials I've seen seem to be roof mount and rigid and not ideally suited for mounting (its a pop top)

Re: DAB Aerial recommendations ?
My DAB Aerial came with the radio. It is something similar to this.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00I ... p263_d0_i2
I unscrewed the wire from the magnetic base and added a small right angle bracket.
I now have the magnetic base stuck to the A pillar (inside the van) and the wire almost vertical following the line of the A pillar.
It works great, cant be ripped off by the local wildelife, doesnt need extra bulkhead holes, and doesnt add any height to the van (tintop)

Thanks Tony, it maybe an option, although I already have my FM aerial mounted in that spot.tonytech wrote:My DAB Aerial came with the radio. It is something similar to this.

Chris thats the aerial I have, how did you get the mag strip attached to the painted metal on the van but also the aerial on the window. Its just not long enough on mine to go over the screen rubber.ChrisTriple wrote:I have one from halfords works everywhere

But for now I revisited my beer can strip earth extension around the windscreen rubber and found that if I used a German beer can it worked !!

Reception is a bit sketchy as I'm out in the sticks at home here but its picking up XFM and Radio 6 so I'm happy.
Thanks chaps,
I'm off to struggle through the rest of this 6 pack of Lőwenbräu
