Thanks :) Don't remember seeing a bolt in the rear drum but it has had alloys on for about 5 years now so presumably it had already been removed. Knowing I don't need the spigot rings makes me a little more comfortable driving it later to see if it was just me not tightening up the bolts on one wheel. The steering is harder than I expected; is this likely to get better if I take the spacers off the front wheels? Mine is a non power steering version and I have a smaller Porsche steering wheel still to fit...

yeah remove spacers you dont need them with et30
small steering wheel wont help with heavy steering but you will get used to it in time
and you'll have arms like hulk hogan :D

I'm looking at these same wheels just now for my t25 project so do you think they will be ok or just need some spacers to bring into the mid 30 et range

I am in the process restoring my 1989 Caravelle and I too would like to fit Mercedes alloys like the ones in the picture. I would appreciate it if you would keep us up to speed with your progress and pass on any problems you encounter. One thing I would like to know is, do the centre caps on the Mercedes alloys still fit on the front wheels as they should or does the grease cap protrude too far to allow this ? Thanks for any advice you may give.
