2.1 dj issues

Post by nodding scooby »

Had to get towed back today. Went out in van this morning and the revs were high when first started and were high for about ten minutes then it cut out all together. AA man said there was a good spark, compression and evidence of fuel. Wouldnt start at all even on easy start, afm repleced last year and most stats changed last year. Does anybody have any ideas of what else to check please. Managed to get it too start after a few hours and a bit of cranking.

Faulty Idle Speed Control Unit can cause high revs and difficult starting. Can you feel the Idle Speed Valve vibrating when you turn the ignition on?
(The ISCU is the box of electronics behind the air intake and accessed through the right-hand rear light cluster.)

Very possibly the idle stabiliser unit next to the coil. Unplug both plugs and join them together bypassing the box.

I shouldn't worry, it probably won't be that.
