I have a chip in my front glass (pasenger side). Called the insurance, I thought they could do a resin repair but apparently it is a little too big, so I am opting for a glass repair. This is costing me £70 excess as done through my insurance Via Auto Glass.
If you have a chip and you are close to renewing your insurance may be worth checking the excess costs before renewing yur insurance then getting the fix done afterwards!
Have a good day all
Brand New T25 Owner - I am a total NOOBIE thanks in advance for the help!!!
Autoglass fitted two screens, both slightly too small so rubber allows water in, wish I'd gone for repair. E D I T just read its not the windscreen you're changing but I'll leave the post up in case it helps anyone thinking of using Autoglass for a windscreen.
Got it from VW emporium, were there different sized rubbers for T25 variants? It's a good point. I'll check with suppliers, just emailed them. Can anyone let me know how wide the windscreen rubber is so I can check mine. My corners were in pretty good nick but the water is beginning to oxidise the metal.
Interesting - that means a 4mm difference across the screen. Of course it is the thickness of the piece of rubber in the middle of the 'sandwich' between the glass and the body that will have an effect also. Don't know what that is on mine.....and no I'm not taking the screen out to check! To my eyes the filling strip tightens up the seal by forcing it outwards and in towards the glass and body whereas the solid rubber type only has the stretchiness of the rubber to make the seal. How true my thoughts are I don't know.
Water is coming in bottom LH corner, window rubber is only about 1mm over the metal in that corner. Either the glass or rubber is wrong. Have emailed VW wweporium but they haven't replied, will try calling. Wish I'd just got the windscreen repaired or kept my old screen.
I have a couple here we have refitted front screens after bodywork /respray , using front screen seals from Chris at VWemporium as usual
One has stood outside in the pouring rain & dry as a bone in the cab
We have not used any sealants around the screen at all
Original windscreens on both as far as I know
Mine has water pouring in at both corners much worse than old seal which looked old but was water tight. Had to gaffer tape it in Thunderstorms recently. I want to get it sorted, is it possible that the seal is for a T2 or something or can they be fitted wrong.
