That's how the fault manifested itself but how are they managing it now? Maybe it'll give a clue. From my understanding there seems to be too many diode failures.

This is the trouble with long distance diagnosis!
Ghost's check should identify which end is at fault and we could concentrate on that symptom then. Some things we check without thinking about it and then get dropped whilst trying to explain to someone who is relying totally on our words.

Hi!
Just a quick update.....
Took our alternator to an auto electricians this morning, the regulator and the rectifier were no good so having it repaired!
We have also found a homeless green wire coming from the right hand side of the engine bay?!?!? Looking at the Haynes wiring diagrams frazzle my brain!!
As for the battery warning light, when we were testing it the alternator was removed from the engine and just had the wiring in place so we didn't start the engine at all.
When we first bought Oscar the leisure battery and the alternator were draining the battery so the ignition light was probably just helping the drain!! :D
Hopefully getting our alternator back tomorrow we are just concerned that we might fry it again if the wiring isn't right!!
Keeping everything crossed for Oscar to be alive and well tomorrow afternoon!!!!! :ok
