gear box rumble

hi i have 1.9 dg with a four speed box (abd) when driving any gear its rumbles...let of the gas quite....?
i had same noise on my mk2 golf output shaft baerings gone...would this be same problem?oh iv change oil.

if the noise goes away when you lift off the power then it is the input side, so probably the mainshaft bearing on it's way out, or being majorly displaced by load, sludgy stem on the magnet confirms main bearing wear

Many thanks for that Aidan.....yer think your right...took it out today sump plug was as you said!
im sure you get asked this a lot....but what sort of job is it to do im a very skilled chap to a degree and no you are very busy at the moment.

have a read of the Bentley manual it is all in there and as Haynes says it is only a 5 spanners job
parts can be had from Brickwerks and me

many thanks Aidan........just spent most of the day tackling it all striped....main shaft bearing gone going to press out at work tomorrow...oh needed 6 spanners......
