Is the choke pull down in good order ?(does it work, is it leaking air)
Does the secondary throttle open when you suck its pipe?
Has your mixture been checked recently on a gas analyser?
Thanks - will check all the above .... don't want to admit defeat and take to garage just yet ..... :ok

I'm sure you can appreciate we can only use a scattergun diagnosis on line.
But a process of elimination will bring a conclusion.

Fully understand - it's not a lot to go on when I say "it's running funny" - thanks for the help - will try all the above then admit defeat and take to friendly garage!!! :D

Update and potential success!! (Tempting fate by saying that) :D :D :D
Booked van into garage for Wednesday but thought I'd have a final bash at locating the problem.

I did find that the vacuum hose to the air filter box (the one that operates the flap to warm the incoming air by passing it over the exhaust) seemed to be working (I could hear the flap actuating) but I could also keep sucking through it - disconnected that and blocked off that vacuum port on the carb and we seem to be back in business!!!

Just back from test drive now and it all seems good ...... will let it all cool down and try again in a few hours just for peace of mind ..... But hopefully that's a success!!

Thanks everyone for all the help and suggestions - it does motivate you to keep searching for a fix when folks are coming up with lots of places to look - so thanks!!
:ok :ok
(Alternatively it's all a massive coincidence and the van has temporarily self-healed and this problem will rear its ugly head next time we are 100 miles from home, in the rain, at night ...... :| :| )

Hi
I have a very similar problem, but yet to get round to changing leads plugs etc. Just wanted to know which flap did you check. I have seen a couple of splits in the air intake which I have patched up and waiting for another one.

Mine does seem to struggle when going up hills too (expected I guess lol)

Cheers Neil

Start a new thread then chap.
Carefully list all the issues and what you have tried.
Some pictures of the engine bay also helps the eagle eyed ones.
