Post by Troopy »

As above, anyone got any suggestions as to a better engine that I can swap straight out without too much fuss?

Have a look in the alternative engines section.

Or more specific

This has got to be one of the most asked questions beside which oil...... Mineral or Synthetic

Nothing will drop straight in if its non VAG. What do you consider "too much fuss"?
Anything can be made to fit and work with varying degrees of success, if you have enough enginuity, skills and/or funds.

Now I like that word that you have used, 'enginuity' , very apt for the thread, it should go in the dictionary.

OK, don't really want to change it from diesel as that will be a faff, so wondering what options I have.

So another diesel then. Which will have to be VAG for least hassle.
Which will need a full transmission rebuild and ratio changes to get the "best" from it, given the inherent limitations of the 094...
