Re: TV help required
Nope, I've watched Martin sit and watch the football so each have their own thing I'm sure.
For me its more about longevity on the batteries than whether a TV is warranted or not as I do more wild camping than most. I suppose if you use hookup all the time you can stuff the van with all kinds of gadgets, perhaps even solar to augment that to some extent but I don't fit anything without considering the draw on the battery. Many domestic appliances are becoming more 'Eco' but manufacturers of entertainment items don't seem to bother at all. Bit unfortunate really.

That sounds like your tarring everybody that decides to have a TV in their vans with the same brush!
There is a little saying. "Don't judge others or you might get judged yourself"

I'm offended being called a "soap slave"! Soap dodger maybe but I've never watched soaps

Lot of them about though. Someone at work seemed bemused recently that I didn't have a TV and asked me in all seriousness: "But how do you keep up with Corrie??".
I'm sure there must be avid mobile TV watchers that don't watch soaps.

I agree that going away to be a soap slave defeats the object, but personally after a long day out in the fresh air with the wife, kids and dog, when the kids are finally settled, catching the news or match of the day is a bonus.

I buy a lot of monitors as I provide IT support. Will have a nose as they may work out more efficient. Will report back on that. Have quite a few 12v monitors so I'll check the wattage.

Re: TV help required
So has anyone actually answered the blokes question or just slagged him off for wanting a telly in his van?
For what it's worth I bought a 19" TV/DVD thing from comet about 3yrs ago and it's been fine, as stated the signal isn't always great but along with plenty of DVD's it keeps the kids happy whenever they need it.
It's also good for those mammoth trips to cornwall on bank holiday weekend which I'm sure most have endured, as for consumption i've got a solar panel that keeps the battery charged up so never really worry about it but even before that my 100ah would last a weekend with propex, TV, stereo and lights quite comfortably.
At the end of the day mate these vans are for the pleasure of the individual owner not what everyone else thinks they should be!

Re: TV help required
Thanks Shepster, yes all sorted, managed to fabricate a way to get a 22" TV into the top centre cupboard of my Auto home Kameo. I've got it mocked up with cardboard at the moment, just waiting for for the bracket to come from eBay.
I'll post some pics once it comes and I've got it fitted.
Cheers guys,

Cheers guys,
Not for everyone I know, but we had a heck of a downpour over the weekend whilst away up Keswick over the weekend, so it was great just to keep the kids busy for an hour or two while it passed over.
