Re: Eberspacher
Ok, hear goes...Ive got a D1LC compact with a 701 modulator. The heater has been on the shelf for a few years since I bought it and is supposedly good. Connected it all up with a fully charged battery and.........nothing at all. Ive done a diagnosis and it says ive got error 048 (fuel pump open circuit). would this stop it going through its starting cycle? Im hoping its just the fuel pump is stuck through years of none use. So tomorrow ill check for power to pump and take it off and see if I can coax it into pumping. I just hope the heaters not fubared.....

Re: Eberspacher
Thanks, ill have a read. I bought it off a guy in a pub (no not really). Ive had it for years but never got around to plumbing it in. I was hoping to have it done for me and tested, but the garage didn't get time to do it. Its an old DILC compact. It hasn't even got the serial number scratched off.....
.....and off course it isn't working. Hopefully an easy and cheap fix!

Re: Eberspacher
Duff fuel pump will halt the startup sequence. Pump should be 10 ohms across terminals. If that is OK it is possible that one of the sensors is duff.

Re: Eberspacher
Took the pump off today, gave a squirt with duck oil, and it seemed to be pumping fine. Checked power supply to pump and found that someone had connected it to the power supply that was for my electric fuel pump when it was a 2.1 prior to the TDi conversion. Traced those wires and they had been left cut off so no power at all to pump.
Ran a new supply to the pump and it fired up straight away. Seems to be working ok, but its too hot outside to faff about with vans, so i'll try it later.
Thanks everyone for your advice and help.
