afn tdi clutch problems
help needed having problems with my clutch install, have fitted an afn sharan engine using the sharan solid flywheel and pressure plate along with a mk3 golf clutch plate and tdi input shaft, the thrust bearing doesn't engage on the pressure plate leaving the slave cylinder fully extended, am i using the wrong parts or have i installed something wrong

I'm pretty sure the sharan/Galaxy flywheel isn't compatible? 99% sure I read that somewhere.. That the flywheel is a different size?

Re: afn tdi clutch problems
Have you stuck with the original T25 box and new input shaft? Have you had the crown wheel and pinion changed for a higher final drive?
Not sure about Flywheel sizes, but I do know that the DMF ones *look* thicker than the SMF's, probably no difference to where the shaft actually engages but might be worth investigating.
Possibly a silly question (and not sure if it's physically possible) but have you installed the friction plate the right way round? I seem to remember that it can in theory go in either way but the center bit (splined part) is dished outwards normally. If it goes in the wrong way then the shaft might not reach.
Also, have you installed one of the little roller bearings in the end of the crankshaft? The original Sharan Engine doesn't have one but sure as hell needs one if you don't want to ruin your gearbox.
Dave.
