Ignition Switch Spade Connectprs

Post by agnew1985 »

Hi, can anyone tell me where I can get some replacement locking spade connectors for the cables in the black plug into the ignition switch? And what size they might be? I'm trying to source some but uncertain If I'm looking at the right sizes.

Thanks a lot,

Nick

Please solder the terminals - I had a heater the other day where someone had crimped all of the terminals and every one could be pulled apart easily. Every time I see these plastic covered home used terminals I whip them off immediately. They are the source of many a fault - poor contact from inadequate crimping (one or two squeezes with a pair of pliers is no use) or corrosion inside.

An example http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/6-3mm-Brass-F ... 4adaa80d27 of bare 6.3mm female spades with locking tab.(these are actually dual use as they have the dimple to locate in the hole for that type also)

I still don't like them on exposed terminals as they are still prone to corrosion. They are fine for interior work but were designed for speed in manufacture more than anything. Not many people will have the correct crimper but anyone with a cigarette lighter can solder a terminal on - I have even done it with matches at a roadside repair. Look at the number of posts on this forum where people have corrosion in terminals and have said that they have had to cut them off and replace them.
