Fuel Gauge not working

Could somebody explain how I get to the connections on my fuel gauge? It seems to be doing its own thing atm

Pull the top of the gauge cluster cover off by yanking it forward using the two finger grip bits on the back of the cover - it takes a bit of force usually but should pop right off.
