Bumper bolt covers

Post by Ant-t »

Just replaced all 4 front bumper bolt covers with nice shiny new black ones because 2 were missing and old one was split. Just checked them after two days and two of the new ones have split as well! Clearly the repro quality is not up to much, has anyone at recommendations on where to get better quality covers?

I had the same problem 3 split.
I cut the retainer that fits to the bolt and stuck them with a dab of silicon adhesive.

Never had that problem with mine. The ones from Schofields are made in Germany and seam to be better quality. I bought the first ones from JK, live and learn I suppose :run

My Brickwerks one would not stay on then split as I repeatedly tried to make it stay.
I wonder if my shiny stainless bolts are part of the problem, older rough bolts may work better.

Ours are genuine, if they are splitting you maybe doing something wrong.
Are you using a washer?

These are repro quality and pretty cheap... but the company that supplied them to me exchanged the three split ones without any fuss. I noticed that the one that didn't split had actually split on the inner plastic circle which goes over the bumper bolt. So I've cut the inner on the new three and used some silicone glue, they all now fit and look good without any splits :D

The one I had off you was VW marked indeed but just fell off, it was me repeadedly trying to push it on that split the inner clamping bit, I have stainless bolts and washers, but the origionals stayed on, maybe I will get some more and try with no washers next order, that could he what's wrong.
