Trigger wire is on the ignition switch which is why I flagged it. Before you start ripping into wires, check the plug to ignition switch carefully. The connection may be poor here.

Good point! I know the connector here is not good so I'm going to replace it. God I've got so much to learn in this game! Thanks covkid, hope this gets it!

It should do. The signal wire (whilst old by now) doesn't carry much current so is less prone to acid deterioration but the terminals can corrode like the earth crown does. Good luck! :D
