Identifying my 1.9d engine

Post by stevie43_uk »

Hi All,

I'm trying to identify what type of 1.9d engine I have so I can order parts for it.
The block has been line bored and new shells, rings etc put in, but I forgot to ask the rebuilder what engine it was ?

On the cylinder head it is marked " 028103373J " and under the water inlet it is stamped with a " C "
On the block on the left top by cylinder no 1 it has "80HBH" and left top by cylinder no 4 " 027 5 "
Farther down on the same side it is stamped " 028103021 A(O or C ?)"

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Also does any one have an exploded parts diagram so I can make sure it goes back together with all the correct bits in place and any torque settings ??

The engineer also told me to break it in with mineral oil otherwise it will smoke forever - are there any other tips, recommendations from the experts regarding starting a brand new engine from scratch ( do I need to prime the oil pump, chuck oil down the cylinders etc)

Many Thanks

Steve

Get a picture or two up, each one says a thousand words, sure somebody will recognise it.

Just above the oil filter there is a flat surface you haven't painted. Maybe 15mm high and 70mm wide. Number is stamped on there. First few digits are engine code.

I can see a 5 followed by a 1 or 4 (I think) - clean that flat up gently and it should be clearer.

Hi,

Thanks so much for your help !
I managed to emery cloth the flat surface and lo and behold there are numbers underneath.

I'm guessing this is a 1Y engine ?

Thanks again
