oil filler neck

Post by Jonogood »

Hi,

The plastic oil filler neck on my '89 1.9 petrol has split and I have been trying to source a replacement without success. Can anyone suggest where I might get one?

Many thanks

Many thanks for the replies. Unfortunately the one on ebay is not compatible. I'll try a wanted post and failing that will just have to continue with the patch job

After an engine rebuild I mashed up anouther way of doing this repair, silicon pipe and a couple of decent stainless T bolt clamps, also put a stainless tube inside that slips into the steel filler neck, also allows easier removal if you need to drop the engine to give more elbow room.

You can repair them various ways with silicone hose depending on where they have broken, for CU engines I completely replace the plastic part with a new filler.

Yep, my approach too. By the time you've waited for one to show up, its probably easier to make one. The stock one isn't that great anyway and modern materials last longer.

Have you e-mailed Brickwerks to ask when they expect them in again? They are very helpful.

Thanks for all the replies. I did contact Brickwerks and they were unable to indicate when they would get filler necks/pipes in. Looks like I will have to have a go at making one. Thanks again
