rattling hob

The metal hob that the pans sit on when you're cooking has started to vibrate really annoyingly when I'm driving. (it has two points where it enters the cooking unit). Has anyone else ever had this problem and found a neat solution. Because the metal must get hot when cooking you cant really wrap anything round the points to make them a tighter fit. I've tried to think out of the box but no joy yet. Anyone else got any ideas?

I'm not sure how ingenius it is but my girlfriend suggested that would be a good place to store our Haynes manual. So we put the manual on top of the hobs but under the folded down metal sides. Literally did my head in as I drove - sorted now.

We've got a couple of small squares of acoustic floor insulation foam that live in the van and go on the hob grille once it's cooled down. Putting the lid down compresses these when it's closed and stops any rattles.

Little pieces of thin silicone baking sheet has uses for things other than gaskets!

That's where I store the tea towels when we travel!

Obviously when it's all cooled and with the lid down.

Rattle free.

We use a silicone trivet for this, it good up to 200'c.

Not sure if yours is like mine, but mine has a 2 point support too, so it sounds similar. However, the difference is that mine doesn't rattle.
The reason is probably that to fit the grid into the hob, you have to spring it a little, so it's always tight in the holes, and we like it tight - right?
You could try to bend the grid a little so that you have to spring it to fit.
The grill pan and the rack in the grill pan both sit on some pieces of non-slip rubberised stuff, and that stops any rattling from them.

A1winchester - you're probably right about the bending it to get a tight fit but not sure what you mean about the 'grill pan and the rack in the grill pan'!!?!

Cant check any of these yet because I'm up on the north coast - but will be back by wed - keen to try out all these great ideas.

I have a rubber mat for mine, cut to fit but any of above good (apart from the chewing gum)
