Elektor magazine (no idea if it still exists) used to publish 100 circuits every Summer, some of which I had a go at. However they'd always sneak in at least two 'useless' projects. The two I remember most were:
Fuse Destroyer - it worked brilliantly though.
Solar-powered torch. Yep, you've guessed it, only worked if it was in the sun.

I remember those circuits you could build, I used to do some of them. BUT, the month later there was often an addendum correcting an error in the circuit, which of course explained why so often the one you built didn't work
I'm assuming that as the stop lights and fog light needed to work that day and that was three days ago, the thread is probably dried up anyway. It'll be power or earth or even brake light switch at a push.
