1.6 turbo diesel low power

Post by chief wigam »

Any help appreciated. Just put my camper back together, put in my 1.6 turbo diesel engine and it starts first turn but is very low powered.
It's been 4 years since the engine has been used and I don't remember it being as underpowered. I had the injectors tested and all seems fine.
Any help with getting a bit of extra power outa this one would be a great help. Was considering an engine change next winter but wanted to get a bit of use from this for ye summer.
Thanks in advance

How low is low? Mine was always low until recently (climbing the A9 south out of Inverness in 2nd and 3rd for example) but a new LDA solved that, and now I haz turbo powah!

So how low is your low power? That might help the wise ones on here help better. Good luck.
Have you ever seen an unhappy fool?

Air filter ,fuel filter, timing, throttle arm,LDA, have you got black smoke when accelerating ,valve clearance shims if there very small when cold may be nonexistent when hot so reducing compression when hot? Would make it harder to start when hot?is the turbo spooling up, pipe to LDA perished-connected? All worth a second look
