Camper Jam Syncro demo + volunteers
Hi
Camper Jam will soon be on us..
Last year the demo drives went down well.
This year, we were asked if we could lay on the demo rides again and the permission has finally been granted to use the quarry (some internal politics needed dealing with apparently). Although it hasn't been advertised as a featured event, there will be a little signage and announcements..
The plan is to run 2 or 3 demo ride sessions of around an hour each on Saturday, we have yet to get the go ahead for Sunday but I would guess that we will limit this to 1 session only..
We found that 3 vehicles at a time running the rides was about right as it allowed enough time to drop and pick up passengers and give clear runs within the quarry.
This year we are looking to find a few people willing to drive a session or 2 with their vehicle and a few people to act as marshals for each session (don't have to do all but would be handy)
Unfortunately, nothing more than some fuel money can be offered as compensation I am afraid, so it is a bit of an ask. We will be asking for a little more money from the passengers this year to cover the fuel and insurance requirements.
I am more than happy to drive all sessions.
A few basic requirements for drivers and their vehicles
You need to be quite proficient with your Syncro off road as this isn't a "jolly", we will be carrying the general public, young and old.
All terrain tyres as a min are required and be prepared to air down. (I have a compressor so can re inflate tyres if need be)
There are some quite tight sections in there so if you make an error you may catch the van.. (heavy campers with low ground clearance also could be an issue) But nobody caught their van last year...
Min of a rear difflock that works as if it gets a bit damp its going to be slippery on one short steep climb.
Min of 3 belted passenger seats.. (to get as many people around each time)
and that you don't mind muddy boots in your van..
There likely will be a closed session for Syncro owners to drive their own vehicle around (without the demo passengers)... IF, there is enough demand. (Please let me know if you would like to drive)
We will have a marquee next to the quarry and the Syncronaughts camping area is going to be close to the quarry too.. (if you are coming and want to camp with us you need to book via the web under the club so we get enough plots..)
A display of "syncroism" will be on and I think we will be doing the usual meet and greets with aperitifs etc in the evening, (Sure something will be added to this post on theme and requirements.. )
Sure I have forgotten something and Clive and Jenny / AN Other will add it if I have..
Looking forward to this again..
Hope to see you there..

Re: Camper Jam Syncro demo + volunteers
We drove last year and are happy to do so again this year in any or all sessions, but this time in the doka (if you'll have us). Will hopefully get the difflocks working by then...
Can also do a bit of marshalling as required.

I'm going. Can I put my name down for a passenger slot? Could probably do a bit of marshaling as well

Re: Camper Jam Syncro demo + volunteers
If we end up going i would be more than willing to do some marshalling... although i have absolutely no idea what that entails... and i have no experience in doing it. but i suppose you have to start somewhere.
I am definitely not qualified to take ride alongs thats for sure although hopefully will have the difflocks fixed so if you are short on buses somebody can borrow mine. There might be a bench seat in the back by then. (assuming a factory high top will get through the course).
We wont be camping with the 'nauts but will hopefully be spending some time with you.
cheers

Happy days. Since weekend camping is sold out I thought we might not be able to bring Doka in for quarry fun. However, I rang the nice people at Camperjam and they're sending us another pass
