Vr6 engine into type 25 is it possible
Hi I recently purchased my first water cooled vw which is a e reg type 25 single cab pick up, it come with no engine or box but was originally a 1.9 petrol so I'm toying with the idea of fitting a vr6 engine into it, I have a mk3 golf vr6 engine here but my question is what else is required to fit it into the vehicle and what gearbox should I look for,any thanks

A bunch of us chatted to a younger German fella at Hockenheim who had done the VR6 swap, his first conversion!
It goes like a stabbed rat but yes it is thirsty. Both VR5 and 6 suffer from poor specific fuel consumption.
Needs about a 4" hatch lift too, its not a short motor.

I read somewhere that the hatch height in the pickup is higher than the standard van, is this true? Fuel economy is not something that bothers me as it won't be used as a daily driver just want to build something a bit special

I missed the bit where you said its a truck! Nothing to worry about then, loads more headroom.
Make sure you renew the cam chain tensioner...

Yep, although it is a bus not a truck, well worth a look at the Slobbo van.

I have a VR5 golf, it is really thirsty when you're driving it hard. Makes me smile though.

On paper the V5 would be great in a syncro (not too long) but for some reason they just dont work very well. Maybe its the long & short ports that have to snake past the head studs etc? Maybe the inlet charge just picks up too much heat?

Ok so I think I've found somewhere I can get the conversion plate/flywheel from, anyone have any idea what other engine mounts are required and how I would go about the wiring? Many thanks for your help guys it's much appreciated

http://www.vw-winkler.de" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; for all your vr6 conversion parts (not cheap though) and you could ask Syncroandy very nicely for a custom loom.
