fitting extra instruments

I am in the process of replacing the fag lighter with a replacement and an additional digital volt meter and a fitting for a fag lighter/usb,the multi plug for the lighter has a red,two browns and a blue with grey tracer,what does the blue/grey wire do?do I need to use it?,I will be removing the multi plug and using the wires with new connectors and hear shrink but not too sure if I need to use the blue/grey for anything,thanks

Pretty sure the blue/grey is for the green light, so no you don't need to use it
