How to fit a jk rear seatbelt

Post by Smcknighty »

My advice would be don't, but a brickworks kit instead as it includes the adaptor you need.

However if like me you buy stuff, leave it lying around for ages till you can't return it, then this is how I filled the gaps in the jk install instructions.

Was asked for photos by johnyb, figured I'd put them up here in case anyone else wants them.

First make an adaptor to fit the end of the seat belt

This is the bit brickworks supply.

I made mine from 8mm plate, this is hard if you don't have someone to machine the holes!

The big hole on the left doesn't do anything, it was just there in the off cut. You need to make holes to match the holes in the van plus a big hole for the seatbelt mechanism. I think factory did 3 holes, I did four as the plate was big enough..

Cheers for that. It was the lower fixing I was unsure about. But I can see now. I have some of the spreader plates with a nut welded on as mine was originally a panel van so il need them.

For the lower fixing is there 2 holes there?

There are tiny indents in mine where the factory fittings are on yours. I did read that a while ago but there are a few indents around that area that confused me slightly.

Had the welder here today to weld the nut and spreader plates in that I got from Brickwerks. I showed him where to weld the lower mount in and he wasn't entirely happy. So he put 2 in; one where the picture shows on the inner skin and another in the bulkhead. This was I can use either or depending on advice given.

Can anybody see an issue with the mount in the bulkhead rather than the inner skin? It seems a lot stronger.

Not sure it will work with the folding bed. There would be a permanent bit of seat belt going back out from the bed I think
