Recently bought some red LED brake light bulbs from Campervan Culture and i decided to check how bright the lights look like before i did. However, neither brake light was working....so i checked the fuse (no.

Neither bulb had blown, but the metal seat the in the cluster was covered in white powder and a little corrosion which i cleaned off a much as i could with steel wool, cleaned the connector pins and tried again. This time the bulbs worked ok.
Would the corrosion cause the fuse to blow or is there anything else to look for? I couldn't get the metal plate out of the plastic cowling of the cluster without fear of breaking it - is there a trick or should i look at buying a new cluster?
Replaced with the LED lights into the cluster and they do give a more red light, than pink, than the standard bulbs but not much brighter to be honest. But at least i have some spare now!!
