Eberspacher D2 Quick Question

Post by Iceworx »

Evening all,

Just a quick question. I have an ex-BT Eberspacher D2, with the 1 hour time limit.

Is this controlled within the ECU, or is it the 7day timer/controller?

Im just wondering if I replace the controller, will I still be stuck with the 1 Hour time limit?

Thanks
Chris :ok

Firstly what type of controller are you using?
If the combitimer let me know what colour wires go into which numbered position on the plug - hopefully it has factory wiring.
Same thing for the 701 series ones or other older ones.

HI OG,

It's a 701 timer, I'll get it out of the garage tommorow and report back properly :)

Thanks :D

Pre empting the wiring info. Dug through old bits of info and..... ( I haven't any 701 timers kicking around at present so cannot physically check)
These should be the steps needed:

To by-pass the 1 hour timer.
You have a RED wire TO the controller which is your live feed
Also a YELLOW which goes FROM timer to heater.

You will need a 2 way switch with 3 terminals on the rear.
On the terminals on the switch you will have 3 connectors
Connect into the Red wire and put this spur on pin 1
Disconnect the yellow connector before the heater and connect the one that goes to heater to the middle pin and the yellow to timer to pin 3.
When your switch is in one position it will connect the two yellows and the timer will operate. In the other position the heater will run all the time.
As the red wire is still connected you will still have control over temp on the controller.
Hope this helps

E D I T - the difference in the controllers is denoted by the colour of the Eberspächer logo on the front - blue logo is BT and white logo is standard. (I think that I have got it the correct way round  )

I have a 701 controller here, well infact, two of them. Both the same, Ex-BT ones with the 1hr timer.

Its got the white logo on the front.

Wiring wise, it has a Red, Yellow, Brown and Grey with Red trace.

Not too worried about fixing this wiring, Im after replacing the controller, but I wondered if the timer is in the controller, or the ECU of the unit.

It is in the controller.
You can use a standard rheostat, a 701 timer, a 801 controller, a 301 series rheostat (what people wrongly call a thermostat) or a Combitimer with a D2.

I've had a root around in my box of rubbish ( Eberspächer parts  ) - I've got a brand new Eberspächer 701 timer with the blue logo that you are welcome to try/buy @ 1/4 list price.
Let me know if you are interested.

Incoming PM :)

I too have a mass of spare Eberspacher parts, pretty much a full D2 setup, missing just the ECU for and probably needing a new fuel pump.

I'll have a root around - I have several Eberspächer pumps - useless for Webastos as they have the wrong pumping output.
