Disk brakes

Post by Andyvandy »

Hi,

Excuse me it it sounds a daft question :D

I need to replace both front calipers on my van.

They are the sliding type rather than the twin piston type.
Is it necessary to replace them with the same type of caliper, i.e. are the mounting holes in the alternative types fitted to the T25 the same spacing?

The reason I ask is that replacements of the type fitted on the van are more expensive than the others.

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks

Andy the carriers are specific to the calipers so if you want to swap to the Girling calipers you will have to find some complete used ones with the carriers and echange the calipers for refurbished ones, might not work out to be cheaper in the end

Aidan,

Thanks for your reply.

Given that the condition of the calipers /sliders is pretty ropey - lots of deep flaking rust I wanted to replace the whole thing, not have to re-use the sliders.

What I wondered was if it is possible to fit the Girling twin piston type of caliper which comes as a complete unit?

Thanks

Andy

Aren't the uprights between early and late vans different too so you can't actually fit early calipers to late uprights and vice versa
