fumes in van

the wife myself and my daughter went away for the weekend in out t25,after driving for an hour or so all three of us had headaches and sore throats im assuming its exhaust fumes ,I repaced the rear hatch rubber last year.exhaust looks ok .is there any other way fumes can get in van

We had an issue with a knackered leisure battery (under the front nearside driver's seat) that had completely died over winter and so started giving off fumes on our first trip in the new year. This happened when the van was trying to charge it i.e. when it was plugged into a hookup or being charged by the alternator as we drove along. It didn't smell otherwise and so it took us a bit of time to twig what it was and where it was coming from. It might be worth checking this one out.

I can't think that the fuel tanks would be able to leak into the cab, although there may be sage wisdom that suggests otherwise, and I would imagine that the seals at the back should stop fumes from the engine.

It might be worth checking if there's anything off-gassing from the front ventilation system?

Hey, fazzer, you forgot to mention what engine you have? - (Aircooled ones can have issues with exhaust gasses getting into the heating system).

You could get yourself a CO2 / CO detector to check the situation.

yes through any hole particularly at rear so tailgate seal, rusty holes underneath, holes cut that now have missing grommets etc.

also check hatch seal again

as said start with a CO meter

all the rear end is sealed,theres no holes and all rubbers are in good order.a fellow t25er has said that it could possibly be petrol fumes from a cracked petrol filler rubber or the fuel pipe that goes on top of the tank and its being sucked in by air vents and blown into van.

It could be but the smell of petrol is usually pretty obvious under those circumstances.

after a good look around van today I found a 65mm hole underneath gas bottle which is above the engine,sorted that one out.Drove it home from work and all seemed good but probably need a longer run.Anyway thanks for all advice much appreciated

Bear in mind that hole was probably for gas dropout, ie to let leaking gas escape (gas being heavier than air), although letting it drop into the engine compartment might not be the best idea...

It wasn't a factory fitted hole ,and yes not a good idea above the motor.
